Santa Marina has one of the two commercial harbours on the island of Salina, as well as a tourist harbour. Piazza Santa Marina and the main corso form a pedestrian zone opposite the tourist harbour, with shops, bars and restaurants. This central area is complemented by walking paths with sea views. Santa Marina Salina beach is the first beach accessible from the harbour and is located near the town centre. It has medium-sized, rounded pebbles. A concrete platform equipped with ladders makes access to the water easier. In the direction of Malfa, Barone beach also begins at the edge of town and merges into Cimitero beach. This means you will find different stretches of beach along the coast without confusing their locations.

Lingua, Wine and Paths on the Slopes

A footpath connects the centre of Santa Marina with the Lingua district. The Hauner winery is located there and welcomes wine lovers by prior reservation. When planning your day, you can therefore combine the walk between the two districts with an explicitly reservation-only wine experience, without losing sight of Lingua’s character as a district.

Santa Marina Salina lies on the slopes of Fossa delle Felci. Its large crater is mainly covered by fern vegetation and gives the landscape a distinctly natural setting. From Serro dell'Acqua, a hiking trail leads through olive groves and fruit trees to the Saracen caves. The caves consist of several interconnected rooms; cross-shaped carvings and numerous votive symbols are still visible there today.

The hiking trail to Monte Fossa delle Felci leads from Via Belvedere via Serro Favoloro and Serro Cicirilla to a fork at an altitude of 400 metres. A steep path on Monte Fossa delle Felci leads to the 930-metre-high summit. From there, the panorama extends in all directions.

Church and Museum: Insights into Salina’s History

The Church of Santa Marina dates from the 18th century and has two bell towers. The museum circuit of Santa Marina Salina offers another perspective on the region’s past: In its rooms, it reconstructs the everyday life of the Aeolian population at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The church and museum thus place different emphasis on visible local architecture and the lives of the people of the Aeolian Islands.
