Alcamo Marina combines a strong coastal character with traces of its fishing and production history, as well as natural attractions. The beach is in the immediate vicinity of the Zingaro Nature Reserve; at the same time, you can enjoy various water sports in Alcamo Marina. This makes it a place where beach activities, water-based pursuits, landscape and history stand side by side when planning your trip.

The Former Foderà di Magazzinazzi Tonnara

A prominent cultural landmark is the former Foderà di Magazzinazzi Tonnara on the Lungomare of Alcamo Marina, in the Magazzinazzi area. Under Law 10891939, it is classified as cultural heritage worthy of protection. The complex was built by the Foderà family at the beginning of the 20th century. One of its warehouses houses a small museum with explanatory panels. The Tonnara’s Marfaraggio includes historic boats and a net system. For visitors interested in culture, this area brings together architectural history, the maritime working world and the historical character of the coast.

Roman Production History

Two kilns from Roman times have also been discovered in Alcamo Marina. The Roman production facility was in operation from the late 1st century BC to the middle of the 5th century AD. Around it were workshop areas for various production lines, as well as storage and intermediate storage areas associated with at least 15 suspected kilns. This adds a perspective on craft and economic processes over a long period to Alcamo Marina’s historical character.

Nature and Local Orientation

The surrounding area also contributes to the overall picture. Remnants of shrub vegetation with Juniperus turbinata can be found along the Torrente Molinelle and are considered worthy of protection. Lido Windsurf is located in the area known as „Aleccia“. The combination of coastal surroundings, vegetation considered worthy of protection and specifically designated areas appeals to different interests without limiting Alcamo Marina to a single holiday focus.

Accessibility Support and Summer Programme

The Centro Asia provides additional features for visitors with different needs and interests. People with motor disabilities receive beach assistance there every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until 15 September, as well as special beach and water wheelchairs; the support is provided by Red Cross volunteers. In addition, the Centro Asia offers marine biology workshops on sand, water, and the fauna and flora of the coastal area. Its summer programme in July and August includes exercise, creative workshops, environmental education and social activities for people of all ages.

Choose Accommodation According to Your Interests

When choosing a hotel in Alcamo Marina, you can weigh these priorities against one another: water sports and the beach, the former Tonnara and Roman history, nature observation or the offerings of the Centro Asia. Another local highlight is the Beach Club and Bandiera Gialla restaurant, which promotes an extensive breakfast by the sea in Alcamo Marina. This allows you to base your accommodation decision on the experiences that are most important to you during your stay.
