Culture and Local History
PalaDolomites is the municipal pavilion for art and culture of the Municipality of Mazzin. The pavilion in Campestrin (the Palua district of Mazzin) has a hall with 250 removable seats and a stage for theatrical performances. The Chiesa della Madonna di Lourdes in Campestrin was originally dedicated to Santa Maria degli Angeli. The church of Campestrin was built in 1825 and restored and blessed in 1900. This means that in Campestrin you will find both a venue for art and theater and examples of religious architecture and local history.
Hiking with a Varied Profile
The Campestrin–Fontanazzo hiking trail begins opposite the bus stop on the main road and climbs uphill along Strèda Don V. Valentini. It then runs along the lower slopes of Monte Ponjin. Along the route, level sections alternate with moderate climbs. This sequence helps you assess the trail according to the terrain rather than solely by the route name.
Campestrin and Fontanazzo are districts of Mazzin. In summer, Mazzin is the starting point for numerous hikes toward Val Udai. For cycling, Campestrin has Fassa Ski Bike. Mountain bikes, e-bikes, as well as enduro and cross-country bikes are rented there for tours and rides on the Dolomites Cycle Route. The choice of different bike types allows you to tailor your plans to your preferred riding style.
Winter Trails
In the Campitello–Mazzin cross-country skiing area, the trails have a low level of difficulty. The area is part of the Marcialonga region, and the trail runs alongside the Avisio stream. The Rodolon cross-country ski trail is 2.5 km long; it starts and ends in Campestrin. For a winter-focused stay, you can distinguish between the Rodolon trail and the Campitello–Mazzin cross-country skiing area.
Playground and Practical Options
The Campestrin playground is located on the cycle path next to PalaDolomites and the fire brigade's training tower. Its play equipment is made entirely of wood and is suitable for children of all ages. The site is accessible by car and has tables and benches. For families, it adds a place with play equipment and seating to the available options.
When choosing accommodation, you can align the focus of your stay with these specific destinations: culture and local history, the hiking trail, cycling tours, cross-country skiing or time at the playground. For a single day, you can set a cultural, active or winter-oriented focus. The bus stop in Campestrin complements your arrival and local travel planning without restricting you to a single mode of transport.
