Of the valley’s three villages, Cinte Tesino has preserved its original features most strongly and retained a pronounced sense of independence, including in architectural terms. For you, this provides a tangible starting point if, on a trip to Italy, you want to discover not only the landscape but also the character of a place.

Peaks and forest trails around Cinte Tesino

Cima la Presa, Monte Cismon and Monte Mezza, all peaks, are located in the immediate vicinity of Cinte Tesino. Monte Silana, a mountain, is also nearby. These four landscape features give the surrounding area different names and clear geographical reference points.

The hike “Passeggiata - Pian de mela ai piedi di Monte Mezza” leads through the forests and between the Masi of Cinte Tesino. The route “Itinerario 20 - SENTIERO DELL'OLIVE'” enters a spruce forest two kilometres from the starting point and then continues to the paved road connecting Cinte Tesino with the Chiesetta Alpina. On foot, this allows you to combine forest trails, Masi and a clearly defined section of route.

Mountain bike routes with different profiles

The mountain bike route “MTB - Tesino bike - Monte Mezza 2309” starts in Cinte Tesino and climbs Monte Mezza. It partly runs along a forest road and through a spruce forest. The focus is on the ascent of Monte Mezza, a forest road and a section through the forest.

The mountain bike route “MTB - Tesino Bike - Borghi del Tesino 2310” is an easy, family-friendly circular tour through all three villages of the Tesino Valley and also passes through wooded sections. Following the signs, you reach the centre of Cinte Tesino; the route then continues along a road that later becomes unpaved, leading to the hydroelectric basin between Pieve and Castello Tesino. Its route therefore combines village references with forest sections and another landscape feature.

Craft tradition and local character

The Museo del Moleta offers a guided tour with a live demonstration of the traditional craft of knife grinding. If you are interested in regional everyday and craft history, this tour provides an illustrative introduction to a distinctive cultural aspect of Cinte Tesino.

Many itinerant “moleta” travelled from Cinte Tesino through central and northern Italy, offering grinding services there with their “mole a carrettino”. This history broadens the view from today’s townscape to an activity through which people from Cinte Tesino travelled to various parts of Italy.

Castles and fortifications in the surrounding region

Castel Telvana, a castle, is located near Cinte Tesino. Covolo di Butistone, a fortress, is also nearby. In the wider regional surroundings are ex Forte Dossaccio and Forte Belvedere, both fortifications. Alongside peaks, forests and cycling routes, castles and fortifications are therefore also available as cultural points of reference for planning your trip.
