Coredo combines the Laghi di Coredo e Tavon with trails, wood art and a multifaceted local history. The two artificial basins are separated by a dam and were built for irrigation in 1958. Around Lago di Coredo and Lago di Tavon, landscape, leisure activities and cultural themes come together.

Culture in historic buildings

Casa Marta is a Venetian palace dating back to the 16th century. Following extensive restoration work, the building was opened for exhibitions and events. The Museo etnografico della gente contadina d’Anaunia in Casa Marta is dedicated to the rural traditions of the Anaunian people. Also located there, the Museo dei costumi displays traditional clothing and folklore from around the world. Casa Marta thus combines regional history with a view of different rural and cultural traditions.

Other buildings also give Coredo a distinctive historical character. The Museo del Legno di Coredo is housed in Coredo’s historic Venetian sawmill. The permanent outdoor exhibition offers a sensory and tactile experience with wood. The present-day building of Castel Coredo dates from 1726. It can only be visited by prior reservation as part of a guided tour at specified times; independent access is not possible.

The Palazzo Nero housed the judiciary from around 1460 to 1475. The Sala del Giudizio contains a fresco cycle featuring an Austrian adaptation of the stories of Saint Genevieve. The sculpture “Le Streghe” by Gianni Mascotti is connected with the Inquisizione d’Anaunia of the 17th century in Coredo.

Trails, lakes and excursions

The Viale dei Sogni is ideal for walks: the level forest path is considered suitable for everyone and follows an old irrigation channel called “lez” to two lakes and a recreational area. Predaia Arte Natura is considered a low-barrier circular trail. The trail begins near Parco “Alla Torre” above Coredo, in the Dossi area. Another route leads from Coredo to the Santuario di San Romedio, passing two lakes, a small waterfall and a biotope along the way.

Cyclists will also find a clearly defined challenge: the Gran Tour Predaia Gravel is a 49-kilometre cycling tour with 1,630 metres of elevation gain that heads towards the Laghi di Coredo. Every August, the Simposio Internazionale di Scultura su Legno takes place on the shore of Lago di Coredo. The finished sculptures are installed along the trail.

The Due Laghi area (Località Palù) has a large equipped park with picnic areas, a beach volleyball court and a large children’s playground. Sport fishing is possible in Lago di Coredo without a fishing licence if a permit is paid for.
