Pietra between the rock route, Cima Verde and alpine landscapes
Accommodation in Pietra
Pietra on the Sentiero alpinistico del Coràza
Pietra is particularly associated with the Sentiero alpinistico del Coràza, an alpine landscape and distinctive route features. The trail begins in Pietra, leads to Sella NE Doss d'Abramo and is 6,070 m long. This gives you a clearly identifiable hiking destination whose starting point, course and endpoint can be easily incorporated into your personal travel planning.
Rocky landscape and secured sections
The Sentiero alpinistico del Coràza runs along a long rock ledge below a rock overhang at the foot of Pala Granda. Along the route, the rocks consist of oolitic Jurassic limestone that formed around 170 million years ago. Geology and terrain come together directly here: The rock formation is part of the visible surroundings of the trail and gives the landscape experience its own matter-of-fact character.
The Sentiero alpinistico del Coràza also includes 50 m of secured sections. This information describes a specific component of the trail and is more important for your assessment of the route than a general classification. If you include the trail in your plans, you can consider its length, course and secured passages together without generalizing the character of individual sections.
Bait del Coraza and craft tradition
The trail leads towards a gorge. At its bottom are the remains of Bait del Coraza, located at the foot of a limestone wall. A short detour from the trail leads to this place at about 1,880 m. In this way, the route connects with a specific point in the landscape whose location and elevation provide precise orientation within the area described.
In the wider area around Cimone, there is an old and renowned tradition of artisanal woodworking. For you, Pietra can therefore offer an opportunity to consider landscape and craft-related topics together, alongside exploring the trail.
Ridge trail, nature and Cima Verde
The trail follows a ridge to the summit of Cima Verde. The return route from Cima Verde follows Sentiero 630 towards Baita Sparavei and then joins the outward route to Pietra again.
Along one section of the trail at about 1,900 m, chamois and rock ptarmigans, as well as various protected flower species, are frequently encountered. You should understand the approximate elevation as an orientation point for this section. In the wider regional surroundings of Pietra, the Riserva Naturale Integrale delle Tre Cime di Monte Bondone also includes Cima Verde.
Finding your way around Pietra
At the access point to the Sentiero del Corazza, Pietra has one parking area, as well as another parking area towards Finestrella. You can take these two specific reference points into account when preparing for your stay. When choosing a hotel or other accommodation, the key factor is therefore how it relates to your personal daily itinerary: You can compare the location in Pietra with the nature and cultural experiences you have planned, without this implying any specific accommodation features.
Other places in the travel area
