Discover Strembo: Geopark, Peaks and History
Accommodation in Strembo
Strembo combines an appreciation of nature, mountain landscapes and historical themes to create a destination with different perspectives. You can explore the geology of the Adamello-Presanella and Dolomiti di Brenta groups, admire nearby peaks or discover places of cultural and historical significance in the wider surrounding region. There are also tangible connections to horses, art and places of remembrance.
Geology and peaks around Strembo
The Casa del Parco Geopark explains the geodiversity of the Adamello-Presanella and Dolomiti di Brenta groups through interactive exhibitions. This means that the landscape is presented not only as a panorama, but also through its geological diversity. The Casa del Parco Geopark also explains how climate change and ice have shaped the Adamello and Brenta mountains. This gives you an accessible insight into the forces that have transformed the mountain landscape over a long period of time.
The area around Strembo includes several peaks, each with its own name: Monte Cargadursi, Monte Toff, La Cingla and Costaccia. The four peaks can be perceived as a shared focal point of the landscape, without this implying a specific route, access point or walking time. Those who like to structure their trip around mountain landscapes and nature-related themes will find various concrete points of reference here for their own planning.
Horses, art and an event in Strembo
A clearly scheduled event is the 40th Interregional Haflinger and Noriker Horse Show. It has been scheduled for 22 and 23 August 2026 in Strembo.
Another point of interest is located directly in Strembo: L'Haflinger di Strembo is a sculpture in Parco Giorgio Ducoli. From the cycle path, the sculpture is easy to reach on foot or by bicycle. This makes it possible to combine a short visit with getting around the village, without requiring a longer hike or a specific length of stay.
Historic places in the surrounding region
In the wider surrounding region of Strembo, Borgo di Canale is an ancient site and a castle. The Area archeologica del Monte San Martino is also considered an ancient site. Castel d'Arco is another historic point of reference there, as a castle. If, during a trip to Italy, you would like to include not only nature but also older traces of buildings and settlements, these names offer different connections to the region's history.
The historical range of themes also includes the Museo Storico delle Truppe Alpine, a museum in the wider surrounding region of Strembo. This allows you to give different weight to your interests in landscapes, archaeology, architecture and museums.
Ragada and the memory of the First World War
The Austro-Hungarian cemetery of Ragada in Val Genova was established during the first period of the First World War. A small church was built nearby the remains of the military cemetery in 1951.
The small cemetery of Ragada was restored in 2014 with the support of the municipality of Strembo and Adamello-Brenta Nature Park. This restoration is a separate part of the site's history and makes clear that Ragada can be considered not only in terms of its origins, but also in terms of a later period of preservation.
