Poggio d'Acona lies on the slope of Monte Catenaia and on a ridge between Subbiano and Chitignano. From Poggio d'Acona, there is a view of the towers of Castello di Valenzano. Another circular route is called Poggio D'Acona–Castello di Valenzano–Monte il Castello–Sasso della Regina–Castelvecchio–Poggio d'Acona. It leads from Poggio d'Acona via Castello di Valenzano to the Sasso della Regina viewpoint on Sentiero 50. The second loop then continues to Monte il Castello, the Sasso della Regina viewpoint on Sentiero 50 and Castelvecchio before reaching Poggio d'Acona again. The nearby Castello di Valenzano was rebuilt from 1870 onwards. Castello di Valenzano is included in both circular routes.

Romea Routes in the Wider Area

In the wider area around Poggio d'Acona, the Via Romea Germanica runs through Subbiano as a pilgrimage route to Rome. As a stage, the Via Romea leads from Poggio d'Acona via Castello di Vallenzano, Serboli, Giulliano, La Villa and Candepola to Subbiano. Unlike the two circular routes, this stage continues as far as Subbiano.
