Consuma is connected to several hiking trails. The Via di Francesco is an Apennine religious, thematic, and historical hiking trail; the section from Consuma to Stia is the third stage in Tuscany on the route from Florence to La Verna. A hiking trail from Pomino or Madonna del Sasso passes through Consuma. The church of Consuma was built in 1932 according to a design by the architect Padre Franci over an older chapel dating from the 16th century. It was designed in the style of modern Romanesque architecture and has three naves and two rows of columns. The annual memorial ceremony commemorates the 82nd anniversary of the Nazi-fascist massacres in Podernovo, Lagacciolo, and Consuma, as well as the liberation of Pelago. It provides a shared moment of remembrance and reflection. The annual memorial ceremony includes a hike that begins at 9:30 a.m. at Albergo Nuovo in Consuma. In addition to remembrance, the fixed 9:30 a.m. start gives this commemorative occasion a clear time frame. “Consuma e le sue stelle” is also an annual poetry competition for children. Alongside the historical remembrance, the competition adds a literary emphasis.
