Figline Valdarno between Valdarno and Chianti
The area of Figline e Incisa Valdarno lies in the upper Florentine Valdarno between the Pratomagno Massif and the Chianti Mountains. Figline has Etruscan and Roman origins. If you are interested in historic settlements and their development over time, you will find several clearly datable traces here: the settlement of Figline has been documented since 1008. At that time, the inhabitants descended into the valley to found the Castello di Feghine.
Historic Buildings in the Town
The Collegiata di Santa Maria in Figline is a 13th-century church with an adjoining museum of sacred art. The Palazzo Pretorio dates from the 15th century and features a crenellated tower and coats of arms on its façade. The Church of San Francesco stands out for its two-colour façade and lunettes decorated with frescoes. It presents the area of Figline e Incisa Valdarno from a historical and cultural perspective using augmented reality and QR codes at various sights.
Market and Summer Programme
The Mercato generale di Figline offers an insight into local everyday life. It takes place every Tuesday, except public holidays, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the historic centre of Figline and offers food as well as goods from other categories. In addition, the Teatro Comunale Garibaldi’s Arena Summer Fest brings together music, theatre and cinema. In 2026, the summer programme runs from 11 June to 1 September.
