Trebbio amid mountain trails, valleys and culture
Trebbio lies in a landscape whose character unfolds through valleys, wooded slopes and trails. In the village, the valleys shaped by the Pescaglia and Pedogna streams intersect at right angles. Terraces divide the slopes near the area's settlements, while a network of trails runs through the wooded areas. This makes it a destination where nature observation, mountain scenery and cultural excursions can be combined.
Woodland trails and mountain routes around Trebbio
A notable sporting event is the Piglione Vertical 2026. It is an uphill trail race starting in the village of Piegaio-Trebbio. The route passes through Convalle and climbs along the Sentiero dell'Indiano to Foce. The race then finishes on Piglione Sud after a final 1.5-kilometre climb from Foce.
San Giuseppe in Trebbio lies at an altitude of 326 metres on the Torrente Pedogna in the municipality of Pescaglia and is the starting point of Sentiero 102 to Campo all’Orzo. The CAI Trail 103 also shapes the landscape: from Groppa, it crosses the entire northern slope of Monte Piglione. The section accessible by bicycle offers views of Monte Matanna and the Panie group. The mountains around Trebbio also include M. Moraglio, monte Procinto and Monte Forato. When planning your trip, you can therefore choose between trails, ridgelines and viewpoints as different focal points.
Palaces, museums and a local event
Villa Borbone and Villa Reale, both palaces, are among the cultural points of interest around Trebbio. The area also includes the Gabinetto di Storia Naturale and the Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Mansi, both museums. These destinations add a cultural dimension to your journey without requiring you to focus your stay exclusively on hiking or cycling routes.
A special connection between the villages of Convalle and Trebbio is evident on 26 December: on that day, the village committee of Convalle and Trebbio organises the Fiaccolata al Presepe di Mela. This event adds a specific local occasion to the area's natural attractions. If this event is part of your travel plans, 26 December is the relevant date.
Practical information at the starting point

If you are considering a hotel in Trebbio, you can base your accommodation choice on your own priorities: the wooded trails, the mountain routes, the section of CAI Trail 103 accessible by bicycle, or the palaces and museums in the surrounding area. What matters is which of these documented aspects you would like to combine during your journey.
