Free Beaches and Bau Beach

The beach area of Marina di Carrara includes four free beaches alongside equipped bathing establishments. The dog-friendly so-called Bau Beach is located on the northern section of the beach, near the border with Liguria.

The Marina di Carrara Waterfront is a 1,200-meter-long beach promenade along the outer harbor area. From the waterfront promenade, there are views of the open sea and the Apuan Alps. Construction of the Marina di Carrara harbor began in 1851. Immediately east of the shipyards, there is also a mooring area for recreational boats with several pontoons on sheet-pile walls, managed by the Club Nautico.

Arrival and Local Orientation

Carrara-Avenza railway station is located on the Rome–Genoa railway line and is connected to the harbor by local public transport. This connection creates a direct link between the railway, the town area, and the harbor area, which you can take into account when planning your own trip.

Church of the Holy Family and Cultural Destinations

The Church of the Holy Family stands on the central Piazza Menconi. At the entrance, it has a valuable white marble choir loft that originally stood in Carrara Cathedral.
