Fosdinovo combines historic architecture with trails, expansive views and regionally influenced cuisine. In 1340, Castello Malaspina was transferred by the nobles of Fosdinovo to Spinetta Malaspina. Hiking and Views in the Magra Valley

Fosdinovo’s municipal trail network includes CAI hiking trails, two stages each of the Trekking Lunigiana and the Sentiero dei Ducati, as well as a section of the Via Francigena. A walk near Le Prade offers views across the Magra Valley as far as the sea, as well as views of the islands of Palmaria and Tino.

Typical dishes of the town include Castagnaccio, Pattone and Ciani, which are based on chestnut flour.
