Migliarino Pisano is characterized by extensive agricultural areas associated with its proximity to Lago di Massaciuccoli and the Serchio River. In the Tenuta di Migliarino, the landscape includes pine forests, seasonal wetlands, Mediterranean maquis, and agricultural clearings. The Bocca di Serchio Nature Reserve is located within the Tenuta di Migliarino, as is the Bufalina Nature Reserve. This creates a landscape in which open agricultural areas and various natural habitats stand closely alongside one another.

Hiking Trails, Cycle Paths and Nature Tours

The Tenuta di Migliarino has hiking trails and cycle paths. Independent visits along signposted routes as well as organized visits with an environmental guide are available there. If you would like to explore the surrounding area on foot or by bicycle, you can choose between an independent tour and an accompanied nature experience. This allows you to discover the landscape according to your personal interests, focusing more on exercise, observation, or an environmental tour.

Walking Routes with Clearly Stated Durations

The “Dune di Marina di Vecchiano e Montioni” route can be completed on foot; a walking time of three hours is specified for it. The “Ugnone e Fiumaccio” route can also be completed on foot and likewise has a stated walking time of three hours. This identical time indication provides a simple basis if you would like to organize your daily schedule around the planned walking time. A three-hour walk therefore represents a separate time block in your daily planning, rather than merely a short route between two items on the itinerary.

San Ranieri Church and Historical Connections

San Ranieri Church was built at the beginning of the 19th century within the estate of the Salviati dukes and was enlarged in 1879. It is connected with the reorganization carried out by the Medici in the 15th and 16th centuries, when the area between Lago di Massaciuccoli and the Serchio River was divided into independent estates and agricultural enterprises. A French-style villa was built between 1858 and 1866 to a design by the architect Joseph-Antoine Froelicher. The architecture thus provides access both to the construction history of individual buildings and to the historical development of the surrounding estates.

The Olive Oil Route and Beach Honey

The regional cuisine includes a variety of local specialties and traditions. The Strada dell’Olio dei Monti Pisani runs along the Pisan side of Monte Pisano and passes through the territories of five municipalities: Buti, Calci, San Giuliano Terme, Vecchiano, and Vicopisano. Beach honey from Parco di Migliarino-San Rossore is produced throughout the park and in parts of the Pisan and Versilian coast, including Marina di Torre del Lago, Marina di Vecchiano, and San Rossore. The culinary focus thus extends from the Pisan slope to parkland and coastal areas.
