Quattro Strade: Discover Festivals, Culture and Landscapes

Quattro Strade combines local events with cultural destinations in the surrounding area and mountains in the wider region. This makes it a place where you can take festivals, culture, running routes and landscapes into account as different focal points when planning your trip.

Festivals with a strong local connection

The Palio della Bilancia is also known as the Palio delle Contrade of Perignano and has been held since 1985. Quattro Strade is one of the six Contrade that take part in the Palio of Perignano. In the regional context of Perignano, the Palio includes a competition in which teams carry grain-filled sacks to their Castellane and throw them into a double basket at the end of a set of scales. This distinctive format makes the Palio a specific topic for travellers who wish to include local traditions and events in their plans.

The Festa dell’Incontro also takes place in Quattro Strade di Perignano. The Festa delle Palle Fritte reached its 24th edition in 2026. Together with the Palio, these represent several festivals that form part of the local event culture and that you can take into account when planning the timing of your trip.

Exercise on four routes

A different perspective is offered by Corro con Angelo, a non-competitive running event in Quattro Strade with four routes of 3, 7.5, 11 and 18 kilometres. One edition took place on a Sunday, 23 October. The event was launched by Angelo and a local association and has been held in Quattro Strade for several years. The different route lengths provide a clear range for personal planning, without restricting the run to a single sporting objective.

Culture and destinations in the surrounding area

The Castello dei Vicari, a castle, is located in the immediate vicinity of Quattro Strade. The surroundings of Quattro Strade also include the Museo Piaggio, a museum, the Parco Preistorico Peccioli, an archaeological site, the Museo di Storia Naturale, a museum, and the Giardino dei Pini, a garden. The castle, museums, archaeological site and garden open up different cultural and nature-related themes for your trip planning.

Mountains in the wider region

Monte Cascetto, a mountain, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Quattro Strade. Monte Serra, also a mountain, is likewise located in the wider region. Both mountains complement the event and cultural references with the theme of landscapes. If you would like to combine different interests during your trip to Italy, you can therefore consider Quattro Strade in relation to local festivals, destinations in the surrounding area and regional mountain landscapes.
