Sassa between castle history and Tuscan landscape

Sassa preserves old architectural structures dominated by a massive tower. This may have been the keep of the former fortress. The tower of Sassa was used for military and defensive purposes until the mid-18th century. The settlement follows the rocky spur on which the castle was built as early as the earliest phases of its history in the 12th century.

In summer, performances and village festivals, particularly in August, bring Sassa to life.
