The Ciclovia del Tevere is an easy cycling tourism route connecting CittĂ di Castello and Perugia along the banks of the Tiber. Trestina complements this route network with additional trails, cultural destinations, surrounding mountains and religious connections. This allows you to view the town from several perspectives: as a subject for cycling and stage planning, for cultural interests and for a stay based around specific event dates.
Routes between river and heights
One route leads to Trestina via an easy descent and then back onto the Ciclovia del Tevere to CittĂ di Castello. Stage 17 runs from CittĂ di Castello via Trestina and Montecastelli, then climbs to Borgo Montone. These two routes have different characteristics: one focuses on the descent and return to a cycling tourism route, while the other continues with a climb after a stretch through several towns. If you organize your days according to the type of activity and character of the route, this information provides a concrete basis for your selection.
Poggio le Liane, a mountain, is located near Trestina. Monte Acuto, a mountain, Monte Scopiccio, a mountain, and Monte Civitella, a mountain, are also located there. They give the area around Trestina a clear mountain character and complement the river-related routes with a second landscape perspective.
Culture, faith and local history
In the area around Trestina, the MAEC displays refined bronzes from Trestina and Fabrecce. Archaic bronzes considered to be of rare value were found in the Trestina area. The church in Trestina is dedicated to Saint Donatus, San Donato. Trestina is the first town on the religious itinerary through the Nestore Valley. San Donato was chosen as the patron saint of the Lombard militias at the end of the 7th century.
Palazzo Vitelli alla Cannoniera, a palace, is located near Trestina, as is Palazzo dei Priori, also a palace. The same area is also home to the Museo del Duomo, a museum, and the Museo Diocesano Di Citta' Di Castello, a museum. The project to erect a monument depicting an Etruscan tripod at the northern roundabout of the Trestina district has been completed. Bronzes, a sacred dedication, a pilgrimage route, as well as palaces and museums thus create a cultural focus for a variety of interests.
Events with fixed dates
The municipal Teatro Ragazzi 2026 program included a repeat performance at the Teatro Ore d’oro di Trestina. The municipality’s 2026 summer program included the 12th Mostra Mercato Solstizio d’estate in Trestina. The Festa d’Estate takes place in Località Trestina on the second weekend of June. The 2026 enduro calendar lists a national round in Trestina on August 30, 2026. For travel planning, this allows you to distinguish the cultural program, the market and summer festival, and motorsport as separate occasions.
