Beccacivetta-Azzano: Church, Villas and Springs

Beccacivetta-Azzano combines tangible evidence of local history with a water-rich landscape in the municipality of Castel d’Azzano. Santa Maria Annunziata, the Violini Nogarola and Cesari villas, and Parco Le Sorgenti del Castello offer different starting points for planning a trip between culture and nature.

Church, Villas and Visible History

Santa Maria Annunziata in Beccacivetta was built in 1310. Count Dinadano Nogarola commissioned the construction of the church. It is still visible and was recently restored. The religious building thus combines a precisely dated construction date with historic fabric that remains perceptible to this day.

Villa Violini Nogarola was completely rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century and has officially been the seat of the municipal administration since September 28, 1997. In the municipality of Castel d’Azzano, Parco Le Sorgenti del Castello surrounds the 19th-century Villa Violini Nogarola. The historic building and the park are therefore clearly connected spatially.

Villa Cesari also preserves a special detail: in the private oratory on the top floor, the fresco-decorated walls and ceiling are still visible.

The Teatro parrocchiale di Beccacivetta and the San Luigi festival are among the cultural events that can be clearly assigned to specific dates. On February 17, 2018, the Teatro was scheduled as the venue for the final performance of the “Inverno a Teatro” series. The San Luigi festival took place in Beccacivetta from June 10, 2017, to June 13, 2017; four evenings of dancing were scheduled in the square in front of Santa Maria Annunziata.

Springs, Park and Natural Environment

The Fosso Raziol rises in Beccacivetta from a spring in a park. In the municipality of Castel d’Azzano, springs and the watercourses that emerge from them create a landscape and ecologically valuable environment around the castle. The “VerdeBlue” natural wildlife oasis is also located in the Parco Comunale “Le Sorgenti del Castello”.

The Parco Comunale “Le Sorgenti del Castello” covers approximately 60,000 square metres and has particular ecological and natural-environmental value. Parco Le Sorgenti del Castello is open daily: in winter from 08:30 to 20:00 and in summer from 08:30 to 23:00. This makes it possible to include the natural environment when planning a day between historic sites and green outdoor areas.
