Nanto: Wine, Truffles and Paths through the Landscape

Nanto brings together several aspects of planning a trip to Italy: paths through the landscape, villas, early traces of human history, as well as wine and black truffles. There are also events throughout the year and an e-bike experience. This allows you to explore the area according to your interests without reducing it to a single theme.

Discover the landscape on foot

Natural attractions in Nanto include the Sorgenti di Trene springs and an experimental olive grove. If you would like to explore the area on foot, the Sentiero degli Ulivi, route 84, begins in the center of Nanto and is approximately five kilometers long. The Sentiero dei Monti di Nanto leads to viewpoints overlooking Lago di Fimon. Both routes offer different ways to experience the landscape without requiring you to limit your trip planning to a single type of excursion.

Villas, stone and early traces

Nanto’s architectural and cultural history can also be seen in specific places. Villa Corà Grassi and its outbuildings are open for public guided tours once a month. Groups must register at least 15 days in advance, by invitation or upon request. Villa Barbaran, Muraro, Grassi is included in the regional list of villas entered in the Carta dei servizi “Luoghi della cultura.” It is characterized by the yellow stone of Nanto, which occurs only in this area of the Berici Hills. The Covoli di Trene are associated with finds of cave bear remains. Evidence of the Upper Paleolithic, meaning the later Old Stone Age, has been documented in the Grotta di Trene. The “Nantopietra” event also takes place in Nanto in April.

Wine, olives and black truffles

Nanto has a historically rooted winemaking tradition and is traditionally known for the abundant harvesting of black truffles. The “Festa del tartufo e dell’olivo dei Colli Berici” takes place here every summer. An event connected with the Strada dei Vini DOC dei Colli Berici is held at Ponte di Nanto in May. Fresh black truffles are sold at the Pro Loco Nanto stalls on the first two weekends of July. These dates give your trip planning a clear seasonal rhythm if you would like to combine regional products with local events.

Explore by e-bike and bicycle

Nanto offers the e-bike experience “Il viaggio green immersion nei Berici delle Maraveje.” When planning a cycling tour, you can also consider the Ciclovia Riviera Berica, a 36-kilometer-long paved cycle path. When choosing accommodation in Nanto, you can weigh these themes according to the purpose of your trip: paths and landscape, cultural sites, or the seasonal highlights of wine and truffles.
