Hiking through Sarcedo’s hilly landscape

The permanent hiking trail Percorso permanente Sarcedo comprises three signposted hikes of 8, 12 and 20 kilometers. The different lengths give you clear guidance for planning your day and make the trail appealing for different time preferences.

The 8-kilometer route of the Percorso permanente Sarcedo leads through the surrounding hills and the rural landscapes of Sarcedo. Those who want to get to know the character of the area’s landscape while walking will find a route whose course is explicitly shaped by these two settings.

Villas with a history of their own

Villa Capra Bassani was built in 1764 by the architect Count Orazio Capra. The neoclassical villa is clearly inspired by Palladian architecture, thereby combining a specific construction year with a clearly identifiable architectural orientation.

Villa Tretti was built in 1884 on the hill where Sarcedo’s old castle had previously stood. Villa Ca’ Dotta was first mentioned in writing in the second half of the 15th century. Villa Ca’ Dotta has multimedia laboratories for children and young people aged 11 to 19, as well as for parents, teachers and educational professionals. The topics covered are physical activity, nutrition, alcohol and smoking.

Churches and Works of Art

The Baroque interior of the parish church of Sant’Andrea preserves, among other works, “Vergine e Santi” by Alessandro Maganza (approximately 1556–1630), “Crocifissione di Sant’Andrea” by Giovanni Battista Mariotti (approximately 1685–1765), “Madonna e Santi” by Francesco Verla (documented 1490–1520), and “Transito di San Giuseppe” by Antonio De Pieri from the 17th to the 18th century. This gives visitors interested in culture an opportunity to take a closer look at painting and sacred furnishings.

The church of San Pietro in Bodo was first mentioned in 1292 in an old document; however, its construction demonstrably took place earlier. This distinction in timing makes the site understandable as a historical reference point without equating the documented construction date with the first written mention.

From Mill Site to Wool Processing Facility

A three-wheeled mill already existed at the site of Lanificio Beaupain on the Verlata in 1644. In 1648, it was converted into a paper mill and in 1885 into a simple wool-processing facility. This sequence shows how the use of this particular site changed over several centuries.
