Poggio Morello between village history and rural paths

Poggio Morello lies at the summit of a hill on the edge of the Salinello River valley. The village is situated 184 metres above sea level and approximately ten kilometres from the Adriatic coast. This location combines a clearly recognisable hilly landscape with proximity to the sea. The Benedictine monastery of San Lorenzo a Salino is also part of this historical setting: it was founded in the Poggio Morello area in 1026. Its foundation in 1026 reaches back to a medieval period that adds to the cultural character of the place.

Palazzo Striglioni occupies the highest part of Poggio Morello. The Palazzo Ventilj palace is also located in the immediate vicinity of the village. Historical points of reference can therefore be found both within the village itself and in its immediate surroundings.

Santa Lucia is the parish church of Poggio Morello. A valuable painted terracotta statue of Saint Lucy from the 17th century was also recently restored in Poggio Morello. The village's religious focus thus extends from the parish church to a restored work of art from the 17th century.

The feast of Saint Lucy on 13 December is marked by the traditional performance of the “Ballo della Pupa”. Poggio Morello's religious traditions also include the feast of San Rocco on 16 August.
