Discover Chamois: car-free alpine settlement with Lago di Lod and views of the Cervino

Chamois is a car-free alpine settlement at an altitude of around 1,800 metres. The special journey to the village is therefore an integral part of getting your bearings locally: Chamois cannot be reached by car or motorcycle, but only by cable car from Buisson, on foot or by bicycle from the neighbouring municipalities. The cable car from Buisson to Chamois is a public transport service. The choice between cable car, walking route and bicycle shapes access to the village and the preparation for your stay. Corgnolaz, the main village of Chamois, has narrow lanes and houses made of wood and stone. The restored water mill in Corgnolaz has not been used since the 1960s. Chamois's high-altitude airfield was built in 1967 as the first high-altitude airfield in Italy. The narrow lanes, along with the wood and stone, shape the village and give the main settlement its distinctive architectural character.
