Intavolata between Beach, History and Scoglio della Regina

The rock was formerly known as “Petra Majura.” Scoglio della Regina is also associated with a popular legend about Isabella, Queen of France, and Edward, King of England. A grave was discovered on the hill opposite the rock; it indicates that the area was already inhabited in the Late Iron Age.

Churches in the Historic Center

By the sea on Via Roma, in the lower part of Intavolata’s historic center, stands the Chiesa di Santa Teresa in Fiamme. The church was built in the 18th century and renovated in 2014. At the rear is a bell gable with three bells. Inside are a statue of Saint Teresa dated 1849, created by the sculptor Giovambattista De Seta, and a painting depicting Our Lady of Pompeii.
