Lago di Mormanno and Montagnella

Lago di Mormanno is a small artificial lake in Pantano. It is 780 meters long and 200 meters wide and was created using the water of the Battendiero River as a reservoir for a hydroelectric power plant. At the lake, a 1,500-meter-long cycle path connects the Pantano and Vallera districts. For planning purposes, this area can therefore be explored through its landscape, the connection between the districts and its birdlife.

Lago di Mormanno is home to significant bird species. Migratory birds include cormorants and black-winged stilts, while grey herons and mallards are present as resident species. Memorial Sites and Cultural Heritage

The Chiesa Santa Maria del Colle is part of the town's religious architectural history. The oldest of the three successive religious buildings is believed to date from the 14th century. The Faro Votivo houses mementos and memories connected with eleven recipients of Italy's Gold Medal of Military Valour.

A permanent exhibition has been established at MormArt – Museo del Tempo, where the past and present come together along a path of remembrance and the preservation of cultural heritage. Mormanno therefore places both a religiously shaped architectural complex and a museum and memorial site at the center of its cultural identity.

Festivals, History and Regional Cuisine

The Rievocazione della Donazione del 1101 reenacts the donation of the Castrum of Miromanum, together with its associated lands and rights, from the year 1101. As part of this reenactment, a Sagra popolare dei Quartieri is also held, offering typical regional dishes. Here, history appears not merely as a year, but as a reenacted donation and as an occasion for community-oriented regional cuisine.

Perciavutti includes the Palio delle Botti, a race of skill and speed. Four town districts push a large barrel for approximately one kilometer along Mormanno's main street. A culinary specialty is the Bocconotto di Mormanno, which is offered in oval, round or basket-shaped form. Its shortcrust pastry contains a filling that may vary depending on taste, the creativity of the pastry chefs and consumer preferences.
