Solfara Mare: Water Park, Beach and the Calabrian Coast
For planning your trip to Solfara Mare, two distinct highlights stand out: the AcquaPark Odissea 2000 with its numerous water attractions and Spiaggia di Fossa-Solfara Mare with its shoreline of sand and pebbles. In addition, Corigliano-Rossano offers a seafront promenade with a cycle path.
Water experiences at AcquaPark Odissea 2000
AcquaPark Odissea 2000 is located in Contrada Zolfara, within the Villaggio Nausicaa holiday complex in the municipality of Fossa-Solfara Mare, in the province of Cosenza, Calabria. Numerous swimming pools and water attractions cater to families and more adventurous visitors.
Chimera is considered Italy’s first multi-lane water slide with a headfirst ride. The Big Olimpo is a 163-meter-long water roller coaster ridden on an inflatable tube. The spiral slides of Black Polifemo are 190 meters long in total. On the slides, multi-lane rides, tube rides, spiral slides and the looping ride therefore alternate.
Skyron Rocket also makes a striking impression: The slide is considered Italy’s first looping rocket slide. Titano Roller is considered the longest water slide in Europe; this record remains unbroken to this day. If you are traveling with children, you should take height requirements into account: Children up to 125 cm tall may use only the attractions in the Baby Area and on Isola di Galatea at AcquaPark Odissea 2000. This limit is a specific planning factor when selecting the areas that can be used.
Beach character at Spiaggia di Fossa-Solfara Mare
Spiaggia di Fossa-Solfara Mare offers a different type of coastline. It consists of a mixture of sand and pebbles, particularly along the shore. The seabed slopes gradually toward the open sea. The sea is considered crystal-clear and clear.
Getting there by road and rail
To arrive by road, take the Sibari exit and follow the motorway access road on the S.S. 106 Jonica toward Rossano. Then take the Loc. Zolfara–C.da Toscano exit, approximately 2 km after the Rossano exit. The approximate distance refers to the section after the Rossano exit.
The park is also connected by rail: Odissea 2000 offers a free shuttle to and from Toscano station. Upon the arrival of each train, the shuttle is waiting in front of the station; from the park, it departs 30 minutes before each train departure. The outward and return journeys therefore use different reference points: train arrival at the station and train departure from the park.
Activity along the seafront promenade
In Corigliano-Rossano, the seafront promenade offers a cycle path that is also suitable for inline skating and jogging.
