Historic Centre and Notable Landmarks

The historic centre of San Giorgio di Piano is characterised by a main street lined with arcades, historic entrance gates and a central main square. Only one of the former entrance gates remains. The Torresotto was built on this central square in 1391. Today, the historic building houses the „Luigi Arbizzani“ municipal library.

Another prominent landmark is Porta Ferrara. It is the only surviving part of the castle built in 1403 and features characteristic slots for the drawbridge.
