Scale modeling with unusual thematic breadth
At the Museo del Modellismo Storico, thematic rooms dedicated to trains, civilian and military vehicles, aircraft, ships, uniforms, model soldiers and historical dioramas are spread across more than 450 m² of exhibition space. The museum also includes a fully operational large-scale railway model and a publicly visible collection of land-speed record cars. For visitors who explore the history of technology, transport or the military through models, this represents a clear focus of its own.
The Chiesa di San Leo
The Chiesa di San Leo in Voghenza has been dedicated to Saint Leo since the 11th century and preserves the saint’s mortal remains. Its more recent history is also notable: in 1945, the church was partially destroyed during the Second World War, but it was rebuilt the following year. A visit therefore brings together religious significance and the memory of destruction and reconstruction.
Roman traces in the townscape
The Roman necropolis of Voghenza is visible in its entirety from Via Dante Alighieri, but it is not open to visitors. Therefore, plan to experience this site as a visible archaeological trace in the townscape, not as a regular attraction. Belriguardo and the archaeology of the surrounding area
In the area around Voghenza, the Delizia Estense del Belriguardo was the first Este residence outside the walls of Ferrara. The archaeological section of the Museo Civico di Belriguardo displays finds from the ancient imperial Roman settlement and the Roman necropolis of Voghenza. This broadens the perspective from the history of the town to courtly and archaeological themes.
The Festa di San Leo
The traditional Festa di San Leo in Voghenza is organized by the Parrocchia di Voghenza together with the volunteers of Voghenza in Festa. It includes religious celebrations, social gatherings, concerts and activities for visitors of all ages. If you would like to experience local traditions not only through buildings but also through community events, this festival is one of the appropriate cultural points of connection.
