Dogaro combines rural architecture with historical significance. Cantone di Dogaro includes a tower that is partially integrated into the residential building. This building complex also includes an oratory dedicated to Maria Santissima, whose interior is finely decorated. Over time, the oratory served as a meeting place for the residents.

Cantone di Dogaro: Architecture Shaped by History
The Cantone di Dogaro building complex developed from the 18th century onward. The complex also features a valuable interior spiral staircase with columns. The ensemble is completed by a former stable and a former barn. Here, the designation “former” is part of the historical classification of these two buildings and should not be confused with a promise of current use when planning your trip.
Risaia del Duca and the Rural Landscape
Another notable complex is Risaia del Duca. It is a large rural building complex dating from the early 19th century and has an outdoor portico facing south. Risaia del Duca includes stables, haylofts, barchesse and caselle. This very diversity of agricultural buildings gives the site its distinctive character and makes it interesting for travelers who want to discover historical everyday and rural architecture beyond major urban monuments.
The name Risaia del Duca also refers to the history of the agricultural estate. It recalls its former owners, the last two Dukes of Modena: Francesco IV and his son Francesco V d’Austria Este. In this way, the rural complex is connected to the political and social history of the Duchy, without implying any present-day function or current offering.
San Felice sul Panaro, the Plain and the Cycle Route
San Felice sul Panaro is located in the lower Modena plain, near the right bank of the Panaro River. In San Biagio in Padule, the La Pica Botanical Garden extends across two hectares. This landscape perspective complements Dogaro’s historic architecture with a tranquil view of the plain, the river environment and the garden grounds. If you enjoy alternating between architecture and nature while traveling, you will find different themes here within the same Modena landscape.
San Felice sul Panaro has its own railway station for arrivals, served by the Bologna–Verona railway line. The town is also located along the Ciclovia del Sole. The cycle path between San Felice sul Panaro and Finale Emilia has been in operation since 2006 and runs along the disused railway line of the former SEFTA railway, which connected Modena and Finale Emilia. In this way, the former rail connection remains present in the landscape as part of the cycle route.
