Riolo Terme between the Thermal Baths and the Gesso Landscape
Riolo Terme combines a thermal tradition, fortress history and the landscape of the Vena del Gesso. Since 1877, the Terme di Riolo have offered thermal treatments using salt-bromine-iodine and sulphurous water from natural springs in the Vena del Gesso. They are surrounded by a large thermal park with centuries-old trees, flowering areas and squirrels. At the same time, Riolo Terme is surrounded by the Parco Regionale della Vena del Gesso Romagnola, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Numerous trails in the Parco regionale della Vena del Gesso Romagnola make it possible to explore the area on foot, by mountain bike and on horseback.

Rocca Sforzesca and Regional History
The Rocca Sforzesca preserves its 15th-century forms, as well as thick walls, a moat and large towers. The Museo del paesaggio dell’Appennino Faentino is located within the complex. It documents the history of the area and of the civilisation that has inhabited it since the Iron Age. In addition, the Rocca offers themed guided tours and workshops on Caterina Sforza, including evening sessions. This allows you to combine historic architecture, regional history and a programme explored in greater thematic depth.
Grotta del Re Tiberio and UNESCO Heritage
The Grotta del Re Tiberio is part of the serial UNESCO World Heritage site “Carsismo e grotte nelle Evaporiti dell'Appennino settentrionale”. A guided visit lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes the fern path as well as the historic or tourist section of the cave.
Music, Markets and Scalogno di Romagna IGP
Local events also offer a variety of highlights. Frogstock is a music festival held every summer in the Parco Fluviale di Riolo. In July, Riolo Terme dedicates the Sagra dello Scalogno di Romagna IGP to Scalogno di Romagna IGP. In 2026, the festival will take place on 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 July. It includes a market run by Consorzio producers, offering fresh products and preparations based on Scalogno di Romagna IGP, as well as craft markets. In this way, the festival combines regional products with a varied market programme.
