Gonars between the Corno and remembrance
Gonars combines nature along the Corno with places where history and remembrance become visible. This makes it possible to explore different themes during a stay: shorter and longer routes, a cycle path, partially recorded wetlands, as well as historical evidence and collections. The selection ranges from outdoor activities and landscapes to an examination of historical border and wartime topics.

Walking and cycling along the Corno
The “10,000 Steps in the Corno River Park” route begins at Parco dei Tigli in the center of Gonars. It offers an 8.5-kilometer option and a shorter 4-kilometer option. The difference is relevant for planning the day: the 4-kilometer option remains the shorter choice, while more time must be allowed for the 8.5-kilometer route.
The Parco del Fiume Corno in Gonars also has an equipped cycle path with benches and information boards. Seating and information boards accompany use of the cycle path. When planning a day by bike, the benches can be taken into account as rest stops; the path combines physical activity with information about the river park.
The Paludi del Corno are among the partially recorded wetlands. Anyone traveling along the Corno can consider the river park and wetland as two separate landscape themes. Along the Corno, the watercourse, cycle path and wetland therefore appear as distinct natural features.
A longer, flat route
Another route is Gonars – Risorgive. It is 31 kilometers long, has no climbs and begins in the square in Gonars. Unlike the two Corno route options, it should therefore be classified as a significantly longer route. These differences in length, elevation profile and starting point are crucial for planning the day: anyone planning to complete the route must allow more time than for the Corno options; at the same time, there is no need to plan for uphill sections. Gonars – Risorgive thus stands as a long, flat option alongside the shorter routes along the Corno.
Boundary stone, aviator monument and antiquarium
The boundary stone erected in 1753 once marked the border between Gonars and Morsano and is now kept in the rectory of Gonars. Its historical context therefore extends beyond Gonars and includes Morsano in the history of the place.
The Monumento all’aviazione in Gonars commemorates the wartime service of Major Pilot Oreste Salomone and the crew of his Caproni bomber.
The Antiquarium Canzianese is attached to the church of San Canciano. It preserves numerous archaeological finds discovered locally. San Canciano and the antiquarium thus form a shared point of reference for the church building and archaeology.
Memorial and castle in the surrounding area
The Sacrario Memoriale was built in 1973 on the initiative of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In the Parco della Memoria, mosaics on the monument reproduce works created by internees at these locations.
Castello di Saciletto is a castle in the area surrounding Gonars. Its geographical connection broadens the view from Gonars to the surrounding area.
