The MAP – Museo dell’Agro Pontino was established in 2015 in the former water tower at Piazza Roma. Using everyday objects, it presents the history of the period before and after the reclamation of the Agro Pontino. This also includes the lives of migrants and malaria. The Chiesa di Sant’Anna provides a distinctive architectural accent: its bell tower, positioned centrally in front of the façade, is clad in white travertine and is reminiscent of organ pipes.
Wetland and regional products
The Oasi di S. Valentino (Gricili) is a wetland in the foothill area with a series of sulphurous and freshwater lakes. The Carciofo Romanesco del Lazio IGP is also part of the region’s distinctive features. This artichoke is cultivated in Pontinia, one of the designated growing areas in the Province of Latina; it is based on the Castellammare and Campagnano varieties and their clones.
