The Chiesa della Natività di Maria Vergine stands in the Camporotondo district of the Borganzo hamlet, at approximately 135 metres above sea level.

Churches and Art in Borganzo

A diocesan decree by Monsignor Angelo Cambiaso dated 10 August 1945 elevated the Chiesa della Natività di Maria Vergine to a sanctuary dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian. The original dedication to the Nativity of Mary was retained. The names of Saints Cosmas and Damian appear both in the sanctuary's dedication and in the title of a fresco.

Inside the church, the central panel of the Borganzo polyptych depicts the Madonna della Consolazione, flanked by San Michele arcangelo and San Rocco. Christ in the Pietà is depicted above it.

The vault is decorated with frescoes by Giacomo Rolando, dated to 1937, depicting La presentazione di Maria Santissima Bambina and Il martirio dei santi Cosma e Damiano. The frescoes thus depict a representation of Mary and the martyrdom of Saints Cosmas and Damian.

The Chiesa dei Santi Vincenzo e Anastasio houses a polyptych by Antonio Brea. The work is signed and dated 1518. The two artists are associated with different forms of art: Giacomo Rolando with frescoes, Antonio Brea with the polyptych. The two art forms are dated to different years: the frescoes to 1937, the polyptych to 1518.

The Oratorio di San Giovanni Battista lies just outside the village and is a private chapel belonging to the historic Ardissone family. Its richly decorated façade features columns, stucco and large statues that define the building's external appearance. Remembrance and Local Features

The Giardino dei Diritti Umani in Borganzo is part of the Giardini dei Giusti network. Every year, the garden is expanded with new trees, monuments, symbols and memorial markers. Installations and commemorative plaques there honour the Giorno della Memoria.
