Between Carruggi and Local History

The archaeological section of the same museum displays finds from the hilltop site of Monte Follia. These finds date from the Iron Age and the Augustan period.

Monte Follia is home to an ancient Celto-Ligurian hilltop fortification site that was used from the 4th–3rd century BC. Monte Follia is therefore connected both with the archaeological finds in the museum and with a specific historical site. This focus is particularly suitable for planning your trip if you do not wish to view landscape and history separately.

The Anello Pietrabruna - Monte Follia circular trail begins in Pietrabruna and passes through cultural landscapes, olive groves and downy oak forests. The landscape alternates between agriculturally shaped areas, olive cultivation and woodland. Together with the historic centre and Monte Follia, this creates a varied picture of the town, bringing cultural discoveries and rural landscapes together in the same destination.

A Specialty from Pietrabruna

Stroscia, a traditional sweet from Pietrabruna, is also part of the local character. It is made with extra virgin olive oil from Taggiasca olives, sugar, vermouth or Marsala, yeast and lemon zest. If you consider regional specialities as part of your choice of destination, Stroscia offers a specific connection to Pietrabruna.

Boscomare and Torre Paponi

In Boscomare, the Oratorio dell’Annunciazione has a frescoed wall. The remains of a watchtower from the 15th century can also be found there. In the district of Torre Paponi, there are also the Museo di Arte Sacra e delle Confraternite and the Museo della Giara dell’olio. This expands Pietrabruna’s cultural radius to include two further specific museum destinations.
