Ceriale between history, culture and local flavour

A route through Ceriale’s historic centre and its “Caruggio” places the old town centre at the heart of the experience. This gives you a destination where local history and culture can be connected in a variety of ways.

The “Bastion” is also part of Ceriale’s historic character. The circular defensive tower was built in approximately one year and stands as a distinctive landmark representing Ceriale’s older side. The approximate time reference remains part of its special history.

Cultural venues in Ceriale and Peagna

In Peagna, Casa Girardenghi is a rural house with an olive oil mill. Every year, it hosts the exhibition of book-related material from the Rassegna Libri di Liguria. Casa Girardenghi also serves as a venue for live music as well as painting and photography exhibitions. In this way, the venue combines a rural character with a diverse cultural programme.

The “Carlo Vacca” Theatre is also located in the Peagna district. The open-air theatre, which opened in 2014, has 91 seats.

Nature and family activities

The Bosco Incantato in Valle IbĂ  is an educational trail for discovering nature and promoting well-being. Alongside historical and cultural themes, this also gives Ceriale a nature-oriented side that fits into planning a varied day during your stay.

For families, the Le Caravelle water park offers a dedicated focus. Slides, large pools and water games define the facilities and create a clear contrast with the town’s historic sites and cultural venues.

Canunetti, farmers’ market and San Rocco

A special culinary connection with Ceriale is Canunetti. This is a sweet speciality originating exclusively from Ceriale. Its ingredients include fresh lemons and locally sourced orange blossom water. Ceriale’s farmers’ market is also located on Via Roma.

A fixed date is also part of local life: the patron saint’s festival of San Rocco takes place on 16 August. The festival includes a mass, a religious procession and fireworks at the Molo.

The right accommodation location for planning your trip

When choosing a hotel in Ceriale, you can take your preferred travel focus into account from the planning stage. Historical interests connect with the centre and the “Bastion”, cultural days with Casa Girardenghi and the “Carlo Vacca” Theatre, nature interests with the Bosco Incantato, and a family-oriented programme with Le Caravelle. Canunetti, the farmers’ market and San Rocco complement this selection with local flavours and a special festival date. This allows your accommodation choice to be aligned with your personal travel rhythm without reducing Ceriale to just one aspect.

For further destinations, you can also discover Bardineto, Bormida, Calice Ligure, Bergeggi, Rialto, Bormida-Genepro, Brasi and Albissola Marina.
