Scano Al Brembo: History, Church and Cycling Route

Scano Al Brembo preserves the characteristic features of a rural village shaped by the Middle Ages, along with its strong sense of identity. This character is particularly evident in the Sedume di Scano, considered one of the most complex and best-preserved medieval rural complexes with fortified elements. Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian

The historic architecture includes the parish church of Chiesa dei Santi Cosma e Damiano. It was built between 1760 and 1762. Its single-nave interior is divided by pilasters into seven bays. Even without specialist knowledge of architecture, the clear sequence of the structural elements provides an accessible way to understand the church. The construction period from 1760 to 1762 thus adds a later historical reference alongside the medieval character of the Sedume. Historical traces around Scano

A second silk-spinning mill, or silk manufactory, was once in operation near the present-day Casa Berizzi. No traces of it have survived as a result of later construction work. Villa Salvi-Zanchi in Scano was probably built during the same period as the medieval and early modern buildings. In Scano, you can therefore encounter both surviving architectural forms and a history of production whose visible traces have disappeared.
