Bottanuco can be explored through its history, distinctive stone and water landscapes, and several paths. The focus is not only on individual buildings, but also on local history and the landscape along the Adda. Those looking for a hotel in Bottanuco can weigh these themes against one another when planning their own day: a cultural route, a path through historic town centers, or access to the woods along the Adda.

San Vittore Church and Historic Evidence

The parish church “Chiesa Parrocchiale di Bottanuco – Chiesa S. Vittore Martire” was completed in 1696 after thirty years of construction, later expanded twice, and consecrated in 1740 by Bishop Redetti and dedicated to Saint Victor the Martyr. Its bell tower is 45 meters high. Eight B-flat bells hang in the tower, with a total weight of 9,200 kilograms. The furnishings of San Vittore Parish Church also include a Serassi organ, regarded as a renowned instrument of Bergamo’s organ heritage.

Another side of Bottanuco can be seen in the narrow “Canyon” between high Ceppo stone walls. A watercourse emerges from this passage. The Canale del Mulino is also one of the town’s distinctive waterways. The old canal was cleaned and restored in 2001; its water provided the driving force for the historic Mojoli mill.

Palazzo, Chapel and Local History

Palazzo Morlacchi stands on the remains of the former Colleoni castle. In the mid-19th century, the building temporarily served as the seat of the seminary; in 1860, it housed San Giovanni Bosco. In Brembusate, the “Cappella dei Morti della Peste” commemorates another chapter in the area’s history. It was built in 1630 in memory of the victims of the plague and is located on a plateau above the Adda River.

Routes between Town Centers and the Adda

The “Storico-Culturale” route connects Bottanuco’s main historical and artistic points of interest. It also includes historic residences built between the 16th and 18th centuries. The “Scalette e discese al fiume” route has a different landscape focus. It leads from the historic town centers of Bottanuco and Cerro toward the river. In Bottanuco, its stairways and alleys still serve year-round as access routes to the woods along the Adda.

The “Sentiero degli Alpini” runs from vicolo del Fontanino to Funtanì. This means that different types of routes exist side by side in Bottanuco: the “Storico-Culturale” focuses on historical and artistic points of interest, while “Scalette e discese al fiume” connects town centers, stairways, alleys and the woods along the Adda. The course of the “Sentiero degli Alpini” can be considered a separate route between vicolo del Fontanino and Funtanì. You can therefore plan according to your preferred focus, choosing between cultural history, paths through the town, and the river landscape.
