Predore between the Lakeside and the Mountains

Predore lies at the mouth of the Torrente Rino in the lower basin of Lake Iseo. The municipality stretches from the lakeshore to Corno di Predore, combining a distinct lakeside setting with mountain landscapes. In Predore, excursions along the shores of Lake Iseo are possible; at the same time, above the town begins the Falesia di Predore on the Bergamo side of the lake. It extends eastwards to the entrance of the first tunnel of the SP 469. Those who value a range of day-trip options when choosing a hotel will therefore find themes here that encompass water, trails and regional history.

Hiking Trails with Different Starting Points

Several trails explore the surrounding area in different ways. The Sentiero Monte Bronzone begins at Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Predore and reaches the summit of Monte Bronzone via a steep stretch through the woods. The Sentiero Cimacarda: Colle del Giogo also starts at Piazza Vittorio Veneto and leads through the forest to the Colle del Giogo saddle. The Sentiero 734 begins with the steps to the Santuario di San Gregorio and runs through terraces and pastureland towards Verasca. It then crosses a ridge through a forest of downy oaks and hop hornbeams to Punta Alta.

For a longer loop, there is the Anello-Maggiore route, which forms a circular trail through the entire municipality of Predore. The Croce di Predore route follows trail marker 708 to the meadows of Col Giera. From there, the summit of Corno Buco, with a metal cross at an altitude of 960 m, can be seen. At the Santuario Madonna della Neve in San Gregorio, you can also reach a destination at an altitude of 953 m. The different trail routes and starting points make it easier to adapt your plans to the landscapes you would like to see and to your own fitness level, without limiting excursions to just one way of getting around.

Rock, Lake and Historical Traces

The Falesie di Predore climbing area has around 70 routes with difficulty levels ranging from 4a to 8c. The rock is therefore just as much a part of the local landscape as the lake and the rising slopes. Another point of interest is the thermal complex of Villa dei Noni in the historic centre of Predore. The complex that can be visited today forms part of a large Roman villa and was built between the 2nd and 3rd centuries. There are several car parks near the archaeological area, as well as a landing stage for the excursion boat.

The town's medieval past is also still present. Torre Foresti dates from the 13th–14th centuries and bears witness to Predore's medieval fortifications, which have since disappeared. The Naèt adds another piece of local history: the ancient boat was once used by fishermen. Naèt d’Or is a summer event featuring a series of races along the shores of the lake.

Getting There and Finding Your Way Around

Predore is served by the Bergamo Trasporti bus company on line E. The town can also be reached year-round by boat. For your planning, both a bus connection and a route across Lake Iseo are therefore key options. The combination of lakeside, hiking trails, climbing area and historic sites makes Predore a destination where active excursions and exploring the town's history can be combined.
