Lavenone between mountain paths and local history

Lavenone between mountain paths and local history

Lavenone combines sightseeing with paths and landscapes that you can prioritize differently when planning an individual trip to Italy. The Chiesa di San Bartolomeo Apostolo is located in the center. Copper cauldrons were produced at the Maglio di Lavenone. Those who enjoy moving between culture, craftsmanship and landscapes will find various starting points here for planning their day.

Via Vaiale to the mountain paths

For orientation, the access road leads from the center of Lavenone through the valley of the Torrente Abbioccolo and then through the Valle della Spina towards Vaiale. Vaiale can be reached from Lavenone on a paved road in the direction of Presegno/Bisenzio. The CAI trail 439 begins in Vaiale. This makes it possible to connect the route towards the mountain landscape with a clear starting point.

Hiking destinations and mountain passes

For hiking enthusiasts, two trails lead to different mountain passes. The CAI trail 438 climbs through a beech forest to Passo Zeno at 1,456 m, while Sentiero N.441 leads from Vaiale to Passo della Croce at 1,219 m. Passo Zeno is therefore higher than Passo della Croce; at the same time, the landscape impression differs because of the beech forest along the first route. When planning, you can therefore choose between a climb through the forest and a route from Vaiale to a lower mountain pass.

Mountain landscapes and panoramic drive

The summit of Corno Zeno is located in the vicinity of Lavenone, as is the summit of Cima di Meghe. The Castello di san Giovanni is also located in the vicinity of Lavenone. The drive from Lavenone to Presegno and Bisenzio passes through a landscape surrounded by the “Piccole Dolomiti”. Along the way, you can see waterfalls and impressive panoramas.

Churches in Lavenone, Claone and Bisenzio

The Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista is located in the village of Claone, in a dominant position above Lavenone. The Chiesa di Santa Maria della Neve is located in Bisenzio and was completely rebuilt from 1749 onwards. Together with the Chiesa di San Bartolomeo Apostolo in the center, these sites create different local connections between Lavenone, Claone and Bisenzio. This can provide you with a cultural focus that combines sacred architecture with observing different settlement locations.

Lavenone is therefore suitable for trip planning in which you do not have to consider culture, hiking and landscapes separately. Depending on your interests, the churches and the Maglio, the paths to the mountain passes, or the drive with waterfalls and panoramas can form the main focus. The combination of the town center, valleys, beech forest, summits and mountain passes creates a varied setting for individual days, without a single experience having to define the entire trip.
