Corrido between Val Rezzo and Val Menaggio

Bridge over a gorge

The Ponte del Saltone is part of the town's architectural character. It is located on the road connecting Corrido with Carlazzo and was built over a deep gorge. This gorge was formed by the Torrente Cuccio. The bridge therefore represents both a connection between places and the distinctive terrain created by the watercourse.

Church art and local history

The parish church of Santi Martino e Materno stands on a panoramic terrace at the entrance to Val Rezzo and offers views over Val Menaggio. The Church of Santi Materno e Martino is a new building from the late 16th century, built in place of an existing church building. Inside, it preserves paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries, contemporary frescoes and Baroque polychrome scagliola altar frontals from the workshop of the “magistri intelvesi”.

The path from Pineta Ponte di Basso to Buggiolo also has a historical connection to the area: locally, it is also known as the Sentiero del Partigiano. Another trace of the area's past is the former Mulino di San Pietro mill. Its equipment is still fully preserved. Together with the churches and the Ponte del Saltone, these places show different aspects of Corrido's history, from religious art to earlier craftsmanship and everyday culture.

Four valleys and a circular route

The Sentiero delle Quattro Valli crosses the four valleys of Val Sanagra, Val Cavargna, Val Rezzo and Valsolda. It is a branch of the route marked with trail marker 3, which connects the Lario trail network with Corrido. In addition, the circular route through Val Cavargna initially follows the SP10 and then the SP11 to the village of Corrido, after reaching the small village of Val Rezzo. Depending on the route chosen, different landscapes and route sections take center stage.

An earlier wine-making tradition

Wine-growing is also part of the area's local history. In the past, the local vines produced a light-colored, light-bodied wine known locally as “el ciarèl”. This former name adds an agricultural tradition and a local expression once associated with the place to the picture of Corrido.
