Churches and Art in Arconate

The Chiesa di Sant'Eusebio was rebuilt between 1901 and 1904 on the site of a predecessor church dating from the 16th century. It preserves paintings entitled “Battesimo di Cristo”, “San Carlo”, “Santa Teresa d'Avila” and “Sant'Antonio da Padova”.

During a furnishing project at the Chiesa di Sant'Eusebio that began in 1946, Giovanni Garavaglia was commissioned to create the figurative frescoes in the apse and nave. Pietro Colombo from Arconate undertook the decorative work.

The Santuario di Maria Nascente was built in 1616 in place of an older Marian chapel and extended in 1749 by the Arconati-Visconti family. The Cappella di Sant'Antoni Abate is held in particular veneration on 17 January, its annual feast day. Together, the two sites give Arconate's religious heritage different historical and community accents.

The Chiesa di Santa Maria Bambina has a single-nave layout with a polygonal choir. The bays of the area intended for the faithful are covered by groin vaults, while the presbytery bay has a spherical dome. The Pala Arconati is a wooden panel painting of the Madonna and Child from 1536, attributed to an unknown artist from Bernardino Luini's school; it is kept in the Palazzo Taverna. The Palazzo Arconati is a country residence whose construction dates back to the 15th century.
