Discover Basiano: Churches, Trails and Rural Experiences
Churches and Medieval Traces
In the Monastero district, the massive porticos of the medieval coenobium are still visible. Their solid construction clearly distinguishes them from the Neo-Gothic Chiesa di San Gregorio.
The Chiesa di San Gregorio is a Neo-Gothic building commissioned by the municipality in 1863. The church also preserves recently restored frescoes.
A chapel in the agricultural complex was later dedicated to San Carlo. Its integration into the agricultural complex distinguishes it from the Chiesa di San Gregorio and the porticos in Monastero.
Agriculture and Walks in the Countryside
Cascina Castellazzo is a farm and an educational farm. It keeps Camosciata delle Alpi dairy goats. All of its own production is processed in the farm's on-site dairy and sold in the farm shop. Animal husbandry, processing and sales form an integrated agricultural sequence there.
Several educational programs are aimed at children of kindergarten and primary school age.
The Valle dei Sassi area is also located in the Cascina Castellazzo district and is now designated for walks in the countryside.
Trails between Basiano and Masate
The Sentiero del frumento runs through the Basiano area and is 3.1 km long. The 3.1 km length provides a specific distance for planning your own walk, without requiring any additional time estimate. Anyone planning the Sentiero del frumento as a single walking route can account for the 3.1 km in their daily schedule independently of a set walking time.
The Sentiero dei comuni connects the Sentiero del frumento and the Sentiero del granoturco to form a loop between the municipalities of Basiano and Masate. As a loop, it complements the individual route with a connection that includes both municipal areas.
Sports Facilities in Basiano
The Centro Sportivo di Basiano is located at Via S. Basilio 12. The natural-grass field with stands is intended for eleven-a-side football and covers 7,800 m². Next to it is an approximately 2,430 m² artificial-turf field for seven-a-side football, as well as an approximately 660 m² artificial-turf field for five-a-side football or tennis. The natural-grass field is therefore the largest of the three areas; the two artificial-turf fields are smaller and intended for different forms of play.
The facility combines a large natural-grass field with two artificial-turf fields of different sizes. The Centro Sportivo di Basiano also has changing rooms with showers. When planning a sporting activity, the desired form of play is the key starting point. The Centro Sportivo lists eleven-a-side football, seven-a-side football, five-a-side football or tennis and associates these formats with three fields of different sizes. The changing rooms with showers are also part of the facility.
