Chiesa di San Mauro Abate and Historic Villas

The Chiesa di San Mauro Abate has a three-aisled layout. Its rationalist architectural forms draw on the basilica design of early Christian cathedrals and mature Romanesque architecture. The present-day building was constructed in 1954 after the modern church was demolished and features a rationalist style with neo-Romanesque influences.

A crypt with an oratory is located beneath the presbytery. It is reached via two staircases built to either side of the altar. Alongside its exterior style, this gives the church a spatial feature that further shapes its architectural design.

Villa Rosales, Abbiati was owned by the Rosales marquises from 1722 and was referred to at that time as a noble residence. A preservation order issued on September 25, 1974 protected the villa, its garden and adjoining farm buildings; the protection extends to the entire estate.

Ticino Park and Nature Experiences

Buscate is part of Ticino Park. It was admitted through a law unanimously passed by the Regional Council on February 27, 2002. The park can be explored on foot, by bicycle, by canoe and on horseback. Depending on your personal travel pace, this allows you to focus your visit on activities on land or on the water, without requiring any particular type of excursion.

Cycling Tour and Events

Bicipace is an annual cycling tour attended by hundreds of people from the provinces of Milan, Varese and Novara. The event is also an environmental and solidarity initiative organized by several volunteer organizations, promoting the bicycle as an alternative to the conventional car. In 2026, Bicipace will take place on Sunday, May 17.

Run Together – Cour Buscà took place for the fifth time in 2026 and started at Piazza S. Mauro. Together with Bicipace, this event shows that alongside architectural heritage and landscapes, organized group activities are also part of public life in Buscate.

The area around Buscate is home to Villa Ottolini-Tovaglieri Palace, Palazzo Cicogna, the Civico Museum of Busto Arsizio and the Museo del Tessile di Busto Arsizio.
