Villa Annoni and the History of the Area

Villa Annoni is at the heart of the area's history. It is a neoclassical villa that once served as the country residence of the Annoni counts and is now home to the municipal administration. Covering 23 hectares, the Parco di Villa Annoni is an important example of neoclassical park design in Lombardy and has architectural, botanical, historical and cultural-historical value. The villa and park therefore offer a particularly tangible way to explore Cuggiono's historical and design-related heritage.

The central building of Villa Annoni comprises two floors open to visitors. Guided tours of the villa are offered every third Sunday of the month and during events such as Ville Aperte in Brianza. The building also houses the Museo Storico Civico Cuggionese. It documents the life and work of the local farming community through old agricultural and craft tools, and traces Cuggiono's history from the 18th century to the present day through photographs and various memorabilia.

The organ of the Basilica di S. Giorgio Martire is also part of the area's cultural history. It was built in 1643 by the organ builder Vavassori. Such individual historical testimonies add craft, religious and art-historical perspectives to the picture of Cuggiono.
