Gudo Visconti combines an agriculturally shaped landscape with religious history, historic buildings and regional products.

Gudo Visconti is located in the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano. The landscape also includes the Fontanile Cavo Resta nature oasis. It covers approximately 6,000 square metres and features a pond and an island. Another characteristic element is the dense network of canals branching off from the Naviglio Grande. This combination of protected landscapes, water and an agricultural setting gives the area a distinct regional character.

Church and History of Gudo Visconti

The Chiesa dei Santi Quirico e Giulitta has been documented as a parish church since the 16th century. It is also mentioned in the records of the subsequent pastoral visitations. Its documented religious history therefore spans several centuries and provides an important point of reference for understanding the history of Gudo Visconti.

In the second half of the 17th century, the relics of Saint Constantine were brought to the Chiesa dei Santi Quirico e Giulitta. A chapel dedicated to the saint was also built there. San Costantino is the patron saint of Gudo Visconti. The corresponding celebration is held on the first or second Sunday in September.

The Castello di Gudo Visconti also bears witness to the area's history. The site of the Castello di Gudo Visconti was acquired around the middle of the 17th century by the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano and used as the residence of its local representative. The historical connection is therefore closely linked to the administration and use of the site.

Architectural Traces and Regional Products

Beams dating from the 15th century are visible in the Trattoria Castello. Large parts of the original medieval building structure have also been preserved there. In the cellar of the Trattoria Castello, there is an original door with chamfered doorposts that allowed wine barrels to pass through.

The local economy includes Cascina Cassinetta dei Ronchi. It produces cured meats, pork, beef, poultry and rice. In Gudo Visconti, Cascina Cassinetta dei Ronchi has a farm shop.
