Idroscalo and green open spaces
Idroscalo is a 1.6-million-square-metre oasis of well-being. It was inaugurated as an airport for seaplanes on 28 October 1930; flight operations ceased after a few sporadic events. From Segrate railway station, you can reach Idroscalo by ATM bus route 923, on foot or by bicycle via three combined bicycle and pedestrian overpasses; the approximate distance between the station and the park is 1,400 metres. This gives you bus, walking and cycling as travel options for your planning.
Nature with clear visiting conditions
Access to the Laghetto delle Vergini is possible only with advance reservation. At the Laghetto delle Vergini, the CCV Milano Civil Protection service organises guided tours and educational activities throughout the year. Centroparco is a green space with ecological and social functions, designed as a lively, safe place open to everyone. Those wishing to combine observing nature with spending time outdoors will find a range of experiences here, from access requiring a reservation to educational activities and publicly oriented green space.
Art, theatre and classical music
Parco dell’Arte is an open-air sculpture museum more than one kilometre long, set in a natural environment and featuring sculptures by internationally renowned contemporary artists. At Museo Giovani Artisti, a public, free open-air area displays works of traditional sculpture and contemporary environmental art. The Auditorium Arturo Toscanini is a theatre-equipped venue with 373 seats. It regularly hosts theatre seasons and classical music seasons organised by the Comune.
Cascina Ovi and local history
The first known mention of Cascina Ovi dates back to 1346. The renovation of the site of the old Cascina Ovi preserved its architectural design and made a building rooted in the history of the city of Segrate usable again. Cascina Ovi Inferiore is now protected by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Architecture and houses the M.OVI Museum of the local history of Segrate. Outside Cascina Ovi is the Oratorio del Santissimo Crocifisso, which is protected because of its valuable decorative fresco cycles from the 15th and 18th centuries. Centro Civico Cascina Ovi also houses the decentralised branch library Milano 2 and a hall of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera for ceramics and foundry workshops.
Leisure destinations for families and relaxation
Aulì Ulè is a nature-oriented kindergarten with some play equipment and wooden structures among trees and green spaces. In addition to numerous land-based games, Villaggio del Bambino includes an area with water games and a picnic area with outdoor tables. Little Segrate is an equipped park with electric motorcycles and cars for practical road-safety education for young road users; access is by prior appointment. Piscina Comunale also has two sun terraces and an equipped green area.
