Briosco between the Lambro landscape and Brianza culture

Landscape and trails around Briosco

The Cariggi landscape extends across approximately 5 km² over the municipalities of Briosco, Renate and Veduggio. Its varied structure forms a suitable ecosystem for the survival of birds. The Sentiero dei Cariggi begins at the Chiesa di Santo Stefano in Capriano and is suitable for everyone, including people with pushchairs.

The Sentiero Arte e Natura can be accessed via Via Pordoi or Via Col del Frejus. From the entrance on Via Turchino, the trail passes the Fontanile Tinera and an old public washhouse.

The cycle route along the Torrente Bevera has access points on Via delle Betulle, Via delle Querce, Via Benedetto da Briosco and Via Molera.

Art, churches and historic sites

The Chiesa di Santo Stefano acquired its current appearance through extensive restoration work carried out between 1831 and 1835. It was designed by the architect Biagio Magistretti. Inside are frescoes from 1840 to 1841 depicting the Four Evangelists and the Martyrdom of Saint Stephen, executed by the painter Giovanni Battista Airaghi.

The Oratorio di San Giuseppe is also known as San Giuseppe alla campagna, del contagio and Chiesina dei Morti. It was built around 1730 at the site where a hospital had been established during the plague, most probably the one of 1630.

Villa Medici Giulini is one of Lombardy's oldest significant monumental complexes. Its garden includes an Italian garden with boxwood parterres as well as an English park with flowers from May to September. The villa also houses a collection of musical instruments, offering visitors a sound experience with instruments ready to be played.

Rossini Art Site displays sculptures from the second half of the 20th century in the open air. The ten-hectare sculpture park lies in the green heart of the Parco della Valle del Lambro, in the hills of Brianza.

At the Fornace Artistica Riva in Briosco, guided tours are offered to groups, families and visitors who come alone. The Fornace Artistica also offers workshops for adults and children in collaboration with Museo in Tasca.

Getting there and choosing where to stay

From Milan, you can reach Briosco via the SS 36 and the Briosco exit. In addition, bus route Z242 serves Briosco and connects the town, among other places, with Desio, Seregno, Carate Brianza, Verano Brianza, Giussano, Besana in Brianza, Veduggio con Colzano, Renate, Monticello Brianza and Casatenovo. When choosing your hotel, you can therefore consider the journey from Milan and the connection with the Z242 as two separate planning factors.
