Discover Brugherio: Parco Increa and Culture

Brugherio combines the natural setting of Parco Increa with historic and cultural destinations. In the southeast of the municipality lies the park, which covers approximately 330,000 m² (33 hectares).

Parco Increa: Lake and Paths

Parco Increa includes a small lake that occupies just under half of the park area. Cycle paths and footpaths complement the water area and give the park two clearly recognisable forms of movement. With its size of approximately 33 hectares and its prominent lake, Parco Increa is a clearly defined destination within the municipality of Brugherio. Within Parco Increa, the lake forms a distinct area that occupies almost half of the total park area.

Historic Buildings and Chronological References

Several buildings offer an insight into different periods. The Tempietto di San Lucio was built in Lugano between 1520 and 1542 as a chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. Villa Sormani was built in the first half of the 18th century. The Chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angeli probably dates from the 16th century and was formerly part of a small Franciscan monastery. Chronologically, the architectural history ranges from the church building probably attributed to the 16th century to the first half of the 18th century; the Tempietto di San Lucio in Lugano is more precisely dated to 1520–1542.

Museum and Everyday History

The Museo Miscellaneo Galbiati was inaugurated in 1950. Its collections include bicycles, accordions, phonographs, gramophones and everyday objects from earlier times. This means that the focus is not only on representative architecture, but also on objects that illustrate technological development, music and earlier ways of life. With its inauguration year of 1950, the Museo Miscellaneo Galbiati dates from after the historic buildings described in this section. The collection thus ranges from technology and music to everyday objects from earlier times.

Palaces in the Surroundings of Brugherio

There are three other palaces in the surroundings of Brugherio: Cascina Imperiale, Villa Visconti D'Aragona and Villa Silva Ghirlanda Cipelletti. Cascina Imperiale is located in the immediate vicinity of Brugherio. The Tempietto di San Lucio is located in Lugano and therefore belongs to a different geographical context from the three palaces in the surroundings of Brugherio.
