Hikes and tours around Trebbio

The Monte Val di Fibbia circular trail starts in Trebbio (Fiastra) at an altitude of 732 m, near the shelter of the same name. This provides both a clearly described hiking route and a circular trail starting in Trebbio, without requiring you to plan both activities in the same way.

There is also a specific connection to the area for mountain biking: the Fiastra–Amandola MTB route has access in the Trebbio hamlet near Fiastra and is classified as a difficult day tour. If you plan your trip according to your desired activity level, the tourist panoramic hike, the circular trail and the challenging MTB day tour differ considerably in character and planning.

To reach the Passeggiata alle Lame Rosse, start orienting yourself at the roundabout at the entrance to Trebbio's historic centre. From there, follow the signs towards Sarnano–Bolognola downhill to the lake.

Castello Magalotti and Chiesa di San Paolo

Castello Magalotti is located on a hill in the Trebbio hamlet. Its fortified surrounding wall also enclosed the Benedictine church of San Paolo. The surviving complex includes the western section of the fortifications and two longitudinally halved cylindrical towers with loopholes. The mastio, the central defensive tower, contains a domed hall and four deep radial niches. The site can therefore be understood through its surviving structures and their connection to the church.

The Chiesa di San Paolo was renovated in the Romanesque style between the 10th and 11th centuries. It is currently inaccessible due to structural damage; visits are therefore limited to the exterior. This status is particularly important for your planning if you consider the fortified complex and the church to be a cultural focus of your stay.

Mountains and museums in the wider area

The Monte Val di Fibbia peak is located in the immediate vicinity of Trebbio. The Monte Cacamillo peak, Monte Fiegni mountain and Punta del Ragnolo peak are also located in the surrounding area.

For cultural and historical excursions, the view extends beyond Trebbio. The wider regional area is home to the Museo Civico Archeologico “A. Gentiloni Silverj”, the Pinacoteca Fortunato Duranti, the Museo Archeologico “G. Moretti” and the Abbadia di Fiastra Raccolta Archeologica.
