Oviglio between Castle, Church and History

Oviglio brings together several historical eras, which can be explored in very different ways during a trip. Castello di Oviglio is a medieval castle dating from the 14th century. Castello Reale di Oviglio was declared a national monument on June 4, 1908. The Parrocchiale dei Santi Felice e Agata is a parish church dating from around 1200. Together, these buildings show how closely the history of the town is connected with military architecture, religious buildings and representative architecture.

The church of Sant’Agata also reaches far back into the past. The first known records about it date from 1197; an alliance between the Alessandrians and the Astigians was signed there. Pen is therefore not only a local specialty, but is also associated with a specific date in the town’s annual calendar.
