Montabone combines Baroque sacred architecture, site-specific art and traditional festivals with a selection of castles, museums, parks and peaks in the surrounding region. If you would like to combine a place with cultural attractions and regional discoveries during your trip to Italy, the municipality offers various points of interest for this purpose.

Baroque Churches and Art in the Town

The Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate is a Baroque parish church. Inside are four paintings attributed to Guglielmo Caccia (Il Moncalvo). A visit to Montabone therefore leads directly to sacred art and the town's Baroque character.

Near the Chiesa di San Vittore is the Parco delle statue di Piero Nicala, created by Piero Nicala. An independent highlight of contemporary art is “A Cheerful Person” by Zhang Enli: The site-specific work transforms the façade of the rural chapel San Rocco Montabone into a smiling face. The Chiesa di San Rocco was built in the 18th century in the style of Rustic Baroque.

Festivals with Regional Flavor

The patron saint's festival of Saint Anthony the Great takes place in Montabone at the end of January. Another cultural and culinary highlight is the Festa delle 3 B (Birra, Barbera e Barbecue), a traditional event in Montabone. It combines local cuisine with music, laughter and entertainment for all age groups.

At the Festa delle 3 B, the event offers dishes prepared by volunteers, accompanied by a rich selection of wines from the region and beer. If you would like to discover regional food culture not only through individual products but also as part of a festival, this event is one of Montabone's distinctive highlights.

Castles, Museums and Landscapes in the Surrounding Area

The Castello dei Paleologi castle and the Aecheological Civic Museum are located in the wider region surrounding Montabone. The surrounding area also includes the Castello di Bubbio castle and the Casa Natale di Cesare Pavese museum. The cultural perspective therefore extends beyond the local churches and artworks to the region's historic buildings and museums.

Parks and landscape attractions also complete the picture. The Parco del Castello park and the Terme di Acqui Terme park are located in the area around Montabone. The peaks of Le Ciazze and il Poggio are also situated in the wider surrounding region. This allows you to set different priorities for your day planning, choosing between local culture, regional history and landscape themes.

Cycling and Hiking Itinerary through Several Towns

The cycling and hiking itinerary “Arte, natura, storia”, dated March 29, 2025, runs through Montabone, Castel Boglione and Rocchetta Palafea.

When choosing a hotel, you can therefore consider whether you want to focus primarily on the churches, artworks and festivals in Montabone itself or also include the castles, museums, parks, peaks and the cycling and hiking itinerary in the surrounding region.

Further destinations for orientation in the same travel area: Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Mombercelli, Asti, Mongardino, Montegrosso D'asti, Olmo Gentile, Bubbio, Castelnuovo Belbo.
